Sally Gifford knows what to do when it comes to make up. As an actress, most recently seen on 1-800-Missing, she is constantly learning new tricks from make up artists on set. Sally has a plethora of tricks that really work. She always looks beautifully polished but never seems to have any makeup on! Here she shares some of the advice that has been given to her.
"No one has a perfect face but make up can give you the illusion of perfection"
Mascara on your lower lashes will make your eyes look smaller. If you have a prominent bone structure in your face, highlight your eyes by making them bigger - skip the lower lashes.
Apply 'corrective makeup' : it's all about shadows. Ever notice how Jessica Simpson puts a shiny gloss down the middle of her nose to pull attention away from her bump?
Or, if you have a wider nose, shade the sides of it to give the illusion of a smaller one. Use a light to medium shade of brown, a
little goes a long way. You can also shade your jaw bone if it is square and needs to be softened, or shade a larger forehead in the top left and right corners, up by the hairline. Experiment within your range: a softer/youthful look - or a more chiseled/sexy look with more shading.
"Get to know the shape of your face. It is all about shadows."
If you have wide set eyes, line your whole eye - a lot of models have wide set eyes. If your eyes are closer together (a category most of us fall into), DO NOT line your whole eye. Only line the outside corners of your eye; this will make your eyes seem farther apart. Jennifer Aniston's eyes are small and quite close together but she is an example of how this trick makes eyes look further apart and bigger.
"Dark lips make you look older, but your teeth whiter...pick your poison..."
Before you apply your eye shadow, brush/dab some powder on your lids to avoid greasy and clumpy eye shadow on your lids a few hours later.
Do your eyes first, then apply your concealer, then your lips and finally your blush.
Make up looks best on top of clean clear skin. One of the best skin care tricks is to dab a cotton ball in hydrogen peroxide mixed with water. This solution will kill bacteria that cause breakouts while fading brown spots.
